Frequently asked questions
Will you be bringing out a bigger size?
This is one of our most frequently asked questions and something we’re actively considering for the future.Expanding into multiple sizes and colours comes with significant manufacturing costs, and as a small startup we need to be thoughtful about how and when we grow our range. For now, we’re confident that our current offering is a strong starting point for families who are new to weighted blankets.
It allows children to experience gentle pressure in a size that’s practical, safe, and easy to care for. We’re excited about the possibility of expanding in the future, including options for those who need a heavier or larger blanket and potentially something for adults too.
What age is the blanket suitable for?
A commonly referenced guideline is that a weighted blanket should not exceed 10% of a child’s body weight. Our blankets weigh 1.6 kg, which means they are generally suitable for children who weigh 16 kg or more, provided they can comfortably move the blanket on and off themselves.
Where confusion can arise is the assumption that a blanket needs to reach the full 10% to be effective. We view this guideline as a safety ceiling, not a target. In practice, many children respond well to lighter weight, and we believe that when it comes to weighted blankets, less is often more.
How do weighted blankets work?
Weighted blankets provide deep pressure input, which many children find calming.Deep pressure is a form of proprioceptive input.
For some children, particularly those who are highly sensitive or have specific sensory preferences, this type of input can help the body shift from a heightened state into one that feels calmer and more settled. This can support rest, quiet time, and transitions.
Can my child sleep with a weighted blanket all night?
Some children choose to use a weighted blanket overnight, while others prefer it only during wind down, quiet time, or naps.
There’s no single correct way to use one. We recommend following your child’s cues and using the blanket in a way that feels supportive and comfortable for them.
Are weighted blankets only for neurodivergent children?
Definitely not. Deep pressure can be helpful for many children.Periods of change or high stimulation, such as starting kinder or school, busy times like the Christmas holidays, or days that are emotionally or physically demanding, can leave children feeling unsettled or worn out.
During times like these, when a child is finding it harder to settle, feeling under the weather, or has had a tough day with friends, a weighted blanket can offer an added sense of comfort and safety.
How do they go in hot weather?
This can be a tricky question to answer, as it often depends on where you live, your home set up, and your child’s individual preferences. Our blankets are made from100% cotton, which is a natural, breathable fibre. If the weather is particularly warm but your child is still reaching for their blanket, you might choose to:
- Offer air conditioning or a fan
- Position the blanket in a way that feels supportive while keeping them cool, such as over the legs or around the shoulders
- Use the blanket to help with the transition to sleep, then remove it once they are settled
Comfort will always depend on the individual child and environment.
What are your weighted blankets made from?
Our weighted blankets are made entirely from 100% cotton fabric, with non-toxic glass beads stitched into evenly distributed pockets to provide gentle, consistent weight. Our design uses a multi-layer construction to support durability, even weight distribution, and comfort.
Unlike many weighted blankets on the market, we do not use any synthetic fabrics or fillers. Creating a natural, low-tox product was the reason we started in the first place, and it remains central to how our blankets are designed.
Are they machine washable?
Yes. Our weighted blankets are designed to be machine washable in a standard home washing machine.Always follow the care instructions provided.
Are weighted blankets safe for children?
Weighted blankets are safe when used appropriately. A weighted blanket should only be used by a child who can comfortably move it on and off themselves, and the weight should sit within commonly referenced guidelines, often around 10% of body weight.Weighted blankets should never be used to restrict movement or replace supervision.
